Benefits of Membership:

*The Society publishes a newsletter to keep members informed about meetings, special events and local history.
*Regular history talks are sponsored. They are free and open to the public.
*The Society provides scholarships and grants for historical research.
*Annually, the Society recognizes individuals who make historical contributions to the area and cites significant historical structures. This includes identifying buildings that should be considered for preservation. The annual banquet in January is the forum for these awards.
*The Society compiles and publishes the Southern New Mexico Historical Review, an annual collection of articles about the local history.
*Special field trips are sponsored by the Society so members can visit places often unaccessible.
*The Society supports and participates with other historical institutions and organizations where our goals overlap.
